cyc design corporation is looking for an intern to assist the design and production team responsible for wings+horns. looking for a design intern that is able to commit 3 or more days a week, for at least 3 months. this position is a great opportunity for those looking to learn more about the fashion industry and the stages of development to create a men’s collection. the intern will be working closely with the designer during the duration of the internship. only serious applications will be considered.

proficient in excel and microsoft word.

able to do technical drawings on Adobe Illustrator.

willingness to assist in all steps of the design process.

we did a shoot last week for the wings + horns spring/summer 2012 collection. with the help of local talent alan chan and lucas beck we were able to put together looks that show classic versatility accompanied by military details and nomadic inspiration.

cyc design corporation is looking for a part-time Intern who can assist with the design and execution of a range of printed and digital materials. specific responsibilities will include:

• executing the design of print collateral for the Marketing and Sales team.
• producing and maintaining website images and ad banners. must be able to clip out and color mask product photography for website.
• assisting in concept development and creative solutions that meet our brand identity across print, web, digital media, and promotional materials.
• refining and maintaining design archives on our company server and FTP site.
• responding to general requests – such as locating and resizing images – in a timely manner.
• gathering pricing and preparing files for print.
• completing special projects as assigned.

the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, production experience, and proficieny in operating Mac software applications (Adobe CS5 Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

we collaborated with the uk brand, heritage research, to design two jackets for this season’s fw collection.

for the first, we brought back and updated an archived favourite, the foul weather bomber, which was released back in spring/summer 2008.

the second jacket, the fishtail parka, followed a new design, and took inspiration from vintage military influence as well as some elements from the bomber.

the w.h.h.r. bomber and fishtail parka are made out of british millerain waxed cotton- a 6th generation mill in england that specializes in producing fabrics for the british military. both are fully lined in a tightly woven natural cambric cotton. the lining gives off a dry-hand, resembling the lightweight feel of paper, but the close weaves allow for extreme durability and warmth.

added details to the jackets include storm collars with a zip-out hood, hidden snap pockets, and swiss riri zippers throughout. available in olive and black.

last week, the creative director of ‘B Jirushi‘, a beams japan and porter bag collaborative shop in daikanyama, paid us a visit at our office here in vancouver. mr. akira taneichi brought with him some amazing souvenirs from overseas, or ‘omiyage’ as they say in japanese.

photographer matt black shot some photos for us (you can see a few after the click) at the 74-year old gleason’s boxing gym in new york, for a truly authentic feel. the shoot features boxers scott shatzer and henry atkins- both training to compete in the golden gloves tournament in 2012, and whom will continue training at gleason’s until the competition date.
